Portion of Cottage Street Closed Beginning Monday, April 24, 2023

 

PAWTUCKET – Beginning Monday, April 24, 2023, a portion of Cottage Street will be closed for four weeks. Rhode Island Energy will begin running a new gas line under Cottage Street, crossing underneath the tracks on George Bennett Highway.

 

Cottage Street will be closed in the eastbound lane from O’Reilly’s Auto Parts entrance to the George Bennett Highway intersection and in the eastbound lane from Freeman Street to the George Bennett Highway intersection. Traffic on George Bennett Highway will not be interrupted during construction. Westbound traffic will remain open.

 

Proper signage will be deployed in the surrounding neighborhood in the coming days and a police detail will be on site, 24 hours a day, throughout the four weeks of anticipated work.

 

Fire Station 4 will be using the entrance and exit on Freeman Street. Rhode Island Public Transit Authority will provide alternative routes and access to O’Reilly’s Auto Parts and A Little Bit of Everything will remain open.
