City of Pawtucket Releases the 2022 Calendar.
I would like to thank each and every one of you for your perseverance and support over the last year as Pawtucket worked to get back to normal from the pandemic. Pawtucket is stronger because of the amazing people who live and work in our community and who helped us overcome the unprecedented times we experienced. Together we moved forward.
As we begin the new year, my family and I would like to wish you a healthy and prosperous 2022. After a 2021 filled with uncertainty and challenges, we look forward to the new year bringing with it exciting new opportunities for Pawtucket’s future.
We are looking to Pawtucket’s bright future, and are all excited for the completion of projects in the coming year including the Pawtucket-Central Falls Transit Hub. New possibilities await our community through these projects and development around them including the Dexter Street Commons at 71 Dexter with a projected investment totaling $44 million. With the train and bus transportation readily available and accessible to downtown, we look forward to the increased traffic to our amenities and businesses.
The continuation of construction at Tidewater Landing, a major economic development project proposed by Fortuitous Partners, helps to bring our community professional sports for the whole family to enjoy once again. This project will transform Pawtucket’s riverfront with hundreds of thousands of square feet of new development, including a new professional soccer team that will compete in the USL Championship League. Thanks to the leadership of the City Council, the Pawtucket Redevelopment Agency, Fortuitous, CommerceRI, and so many others, we continue taking great strides toward the fruition of this game changing project with construction in 2022 and anticipated completion in 2023.
Our students have shown their resilience this past year and have overcome some amazing obstacles. They have shifted back to in-person learning and have remained health conscious and patient. The learning environments and facilities of our students remains a top priority as we renovate Winters Elementary. We have considered school projects moving forward with investigations into a combined campus for our high schools to create a state-of-the-art facility for learning.
In conclusion, I wish to thank our amazing calendar sponsors who, once again, allow us to present you with the 2022 City of Pawtucket Calendar. This calendar provides you with information on scheduled events, how to contact your elected officials, the many services available to you, and much, much more.
I wish you and your family all the best and a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2022.
