Chooses to reinvest in Pawtucket
This past Friday, Rose Bud Florist owner Manuel Mourao was joined by friends, family, Mayor Donald R. Grebien and Councilor Mark Wildenhain as he celebrated the opening of his new location at 350 Benefit Street in Pawtucket.
Mourao was introduced to the business at age fifteen when he went to work for the store’s original owner, Robert Fromich. Mourao worked under Fromich for six years, learning all he could about the business. He worked hard and saved his money until 2002, when he was able to buy the business from Fromich and enter into business on his own.
Mourao successfully operated Rose Bud Florist at the old location of 386 Central Avenue, for over 14 years. Eventually, Rose Bud outgrew that space and was faced with the difficult decision of where to relocate his business. Rather than locate outside the City, Mr. Mourao reinvested in the Pawtucket community and relocated his expanded business to the beautiful space at 350 Benefit Street. “My roots are here in Pawtucket,” said Mourao. “I wanted to continue to do business here in the City where I grew up,” he said.
“I am very proud of the way Mr. Mourao worked his way up, grew his business, and that he chose to reinvest in the community where it all began,” said Pawtucket Mayor Donald R. Grebien. “I want to wish Mr. Mourao and his beautiful family the very best of luck at their new beautiful location and I want to thank him for being part of the evolution here in the City,” continued Grebien.
