Includes Slater Mill (1793), birthplace of American industry, the Sylvanus
Brown House (1758), an early skilled worker's home; and the Wilkinson Mill
(1810) which houses an authentic 19th century machine shop. A reconstructed
16,000 lb. water wheel (c.1826) is in operation. Operating early textile
machinery and demonstrations of hand-spinning and weaving. Museum shop.

Modern Diner

The Modern Diner is the first diner in the nation to be accepted on the
National Register for Historic Places. Customized and factory built, it
is a sterling Streamliner, a line of "Modernistic" diners manufactured
in the late 1930s and early 1940s. Diners originated in Providence in
1872.
